We were asked to create a series of regular English articles for Pasona Group's Kurashinity Housekeeper service. We began by suggesting what pre-existing content could be efficiently localized, and eliminating content that was too Japanese-specific. Finally we were commissioned to produce original content in English that would be relevant to the expat, and international community in Japan.
English Content Creation
We produced a series of English language articles for the Kansai Tourism Bureau official homepage focusing on luxurious cultural experiences that are generally not open to the general public. A number of our writers visited Tokushima, Shiga, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Wakayama prefectures to write about recently developed tours and experiences from an international perspective.
Article and Video Content Creation
We were asked to produce a series of articles and videos for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan website Countryside Stays Japan. We developed itineraries that would appeal to international travelers and sent out small teams to 8 prefectures. For this project we produced both English and Chinese (Traditional) content.
We were asked to translate this brochure for the fourth year in a row. This is an extensive, roughly 300 page brochure which reflects the latest tours and activities offered at the National Parks of Japan nationwide. We assigned a dedicated team to work on this project for the duration, and optimized the work flow to turn around the vast volume of content within the deadline. Points of clarification, and explanations of the technical terms used were also provided to the client when requested so they were completely confident that the translation was accurate.
English Content Creation
We were asked to provide English news updates for the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCVB) English website. We started by looking at their Japanese content, and decided what the most important elements would be for an international audience. We then rewrote the content in an engaging way with said audience in mind. For projects like this we prefer to assign the same team to the project longterm to ensure that the client's message remains consistent.
We were tasked with providing an English translation of a number of explanatory panels on the theme of the Japanese peoples' coexistence with the natural world, to be used at an exhibition in Hungary. Our team of native English translators translated the explanatory panels with an international perspective to raise global awareness about the status of Japanese wildlife protection and conservation of the natural environment in Japan, including sensitive issues relating to wild animal population control.
Social Media Content Creation
Created original English content for the global Facebook page of a company developing medical products and services. Since pharmaceutical-related writing is specialized content, and the products in questions were highly specialized, the the client created a rough draft of the manuscript in Japanese covering the key points, and our native English writer wrote the content in English. We also created an advertising campaign plan and provided advice on Facebook for the overseas market. Finally, we provided the representative for the company's social media presence training and support so they could eventually manage advertising campaigns internally.
Advertising and Marketting
The Tokushima Trade Information Center, part of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) asked us to provide our expertise to companies in Tokushima Prefecture who were looking to improve and globalize their website and video production output. Our team visited each company and provided personalized consulting services based on our advance research with a view to appeal to overseas buyers and improve their overall brand image.
Website Content Creation
Original website for the Japanese Cabinet Office outlining Japan's Super City Initiative. The text, design, and graphics were all original, and produced in consultation with the Cabinet Office and a small team of international creatives to ensure the message would be widely understood by an international audience. The site was also coded to match the client's existing website infrastructure.
Translation and Editing
Starting in 2018, SEDO was responsible for the English translation, managed by JTB, for this Ministry of Environment brochure compiling information on tourism-related activities available at the various National Parks of Japan. In addition to revising existing English translations, we have worked on new translations each year and the current brochure is some 300 pages and continues to grow each year. Our specialized team is familiar with the national parks themselves, but also the relevant language needed to describe the natural world with accuracy.
