Map and Pamphlet Creation
We were asked to create a map for the Yokohama City Visitors Bureau showcasing the city center with international visitors in mind. We created an original illustrated map with a detailed breakdown of around 50 must-visit locations by them on the reverse. We worked with Yokohama to match the map to their city brand identity, and considered carefully what content should be prioritized from a foreign perspective. We have been fortunate enough to get to know the needs of the city over the years and it was a pleasure to put all that information together in one place.
Video Creation
JTB Publishing asked us to create a video introducing the Ministry of Environment's Countryside Stay Japan project. In addition to the overview video, we also curated a series of experience articles for various media in multiple languages. For this project we used an expert on adventure tourism from Australia as lead videographer, and deployed drone photography to create a more dramatic mood.
Multilingual Tourism Pamphlet Content Creation
We were tasked with making a tourism pamphlet for Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture, with the client requesting English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese versions. Working within the budget and deadline we created an English version first, and then translated that version into each other language and adjusted the layout accordingly. In addition we created a stand for use in distribution locations, and updated the city's website to include additional tourism content.
Translation & DTP
We were asked to translate a 56-page Household Disaster Preparedness Handbook produced by Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture from Japanese to six languages (English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog), and adjust the page layouts accordingly. Our team ensured the information was clear and accurate in each language, including visual information such as illustrations and maps.
Content Creation
We were asked to create a series of regular English articles for Pasona Group's Kurashinity Housekeeper service. We began by suggesting what pre-existing content could be efficiently localized, and eliminating content that was too Japanese-specific. Finally we were commissioned to produce original content in English that would be relevant to the expat, and international community in Japan.
English Content Creation
We produced a series of English language articles for the Kansai Tourism Bureau official homepage focusing on luxurious cultural experiences that are generally not open to the general public. A number of our writers visited Tokushima, Shiga, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Wakayama prefectures to write about recently developed tours and experiences from an international perspective.
Article and Video Content Creation
We were asked to produce a series of articles and videos for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan website Countryside Stays Japan. We developed itineraries that would appeal to international travelers and sent out small teams to 8 prefectures. For this project we produced both English and Chinese (Traditional) content.
Translation
We were asked to translate this brochure for the fourth year in a row. This is an extensive, roughly 300 page brochure which reflects the latest tours and activities offered at the National Parks of Japan nationwide. We assigned a dedicated team to work on this project for the duration, and optimized the work flow to turn around the vast volume of content within the deadline. Points of clarification, and explanations of the technical terms used were also provided to the client when requested so they were completely confident that the translation was accurate.
English Content Creation
We were asked to provide English news updates for the Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCVB) English website. We started by looking at their Japanese content, and decided what the most important elements would be for an international audience. We then rewrote the content in an engaging way with said audience in mind. For projects like this we prefer to assign the same team to the project longterm to ensure that the client's message remains consistent.
Translation
We were tasked with providing an English translation of a number of explanatory panels on the theme of the Japanese peoples' coexistence with the natural world, to be used at an exhibition in Hungary. Our team of native English translators translated the explanatory panels with an international perspective to raise global awareness about the status of Japanese wildlife protection and conservation of the natural environment in Japan, including sensitive issues relating to wild animal population control.
